Allergy Remedies
Unfortunately many allergies cannot be completely treated or prevented, however, there are many Allergy Remedies that can be very effective in reducing the symptoms. These include allergy medications and natural therapies.
The first step in finding ways to alleviate your allergy symptoms, is to recognise your symptoms and what it is that is causing the problems.
Some symptoms may be very obvious, such as sneezing around pollen-filled trees, or after cutting grass. Others may not be as obvious.
So how do you find out just what you are allergic to!
Allergy Tests are available to help with this. There are now a number of test kits available including a Food Intolerance Testing Kit , which can help identify foods that may be a problem. There are also tests for common allergens such as Dust Mite, Cats, Dogs, Cockroaches , and Mold. (Alternaria alternata, cladosporium herbarum, penicillium notatum, aspergillus fumigatus).
There is a new Home Allergy Test which measures your body's response to ten of the most common allergens with only one small sample needed to be taken for the analysis. Those allergens are: Pollens (Timothy Grass, Short Ragweed, Bermuda Grass, Cat, Mountain Cedar), Mold (Alternaria), Foods (Milk, Egg White, Wheat), Other (Cat, House Dust Mite).
If you are unable to confidently recognise the cause of your allergies then talking to your doctor about allergy remedies is a good option. The doctor will carry out a skin prick test and this may help to identify any allergies you may have, or some you may not even be aware of.
Home Remedies for Allergies:
Once you have been able to identify your allergies, the best way to prevent their return is to remove the allergens from your environment. If you are allergic to a certain food, then it is only logical that you would remove this food from your diet. You also need to be aware of the ingredients that are used in restaurants and also in packaged foods.
Some common foods that people have found helpful in reducing the affects of allergies are Chamomile Tea, Green Tea, Garlic, Honey, Ginger and Thyme. Vinegar has also been used effectively.

Some nutritional supplements may be helpful allergy remedies. Vitamin C is known to have antihistamine properties that may lessen the severity of allergy symptoms. Likewise, spirulina is thought to prevent the release of histamine and that might prevent allergy symptoms from occurring. Lactobacillus acidophilus and quercetin have also been studied for their ability to lessen allergy symptoms and might prove beneficial. Some herbs are useful allergy remedies as well. Butterbur in particular was found in one study to be just as effective as Allegra and Zyrtec in treating allergy symptoms. It is an old folk remedy used for bronchitis and asthma but its safety for long term use has not been determined yet. Goldenseal is a common ingredient in herbal remedies created to treat allergies because of its immune enhancing and antibacterial qualities. It is important to keep in mind that all natural allergy remedies can still cause problems if you are taking other medications or have certain medical problems. Before taking herbs or supplements you don't know anything about it is a good idea to check with your doctor first just to make sure they are safe for you to take.
The following publication has been found to be very useful, The Doctors Book of Home Remedies.

If you are allergic to animals, it is best to stay away from them. Other allergy remedies that may help are cleaning your house regularly, the use of filters, and using an allergy-free laundry detergent. These will all will help.
However, it is not always possible to remove all allergens from your environment, especially in the case of pollinating trees or flowers. In those cases, your best option of getting rid of your allergy symptoms may be pharmacological. There are allergy medicines, and there are also many natural Allergy Remedies available.
Antihistamines are one of the most common ways of getting rid of the symptoms of allergies. Antihistamines are drugs that neutralize the effects of the allergens. Antihistamines generally relieve the sneezing and itching associated with allergies. For many people, taking antihistamines eliminates allergic reactions by removing toxins that confuse the body and mislead the immune system. When your body is free from most these toxins, allergies tend to lessen.
